Lenora Bell's ramshackle childhood home in Alaska overlooked the ocean and overflowed with musical instruments and books. She spent the long, dark winter evenings with Emily Brontë, Edgar Allan Poe, and Anaïs Nin, sparking a lifelong interest in gothic and erotic literature.
